Overcoming Anxiety
Philippians 4:4-8

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8  Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. Philippians 4:4-8 


Look not to the world to find your joy, but to the sovereign Lordship of Jesus. vs 4

Let your joy manifest in gentle, non-combative interaction with others. vs 5

You will rest if you know the Lord is close by and involved with you. vs 5

When stress hits, don't continue to carry it and allow it to dominate you with anxiety. vs 6

Instead, stop long enough to look God in the eye and acquaint Him with your need or want. vs 6

Entrust your requests to God by means of prayerful heart-wishes and humble beseeching. vs 6

Humbly express appreciation and thanksgiving to God for the undeserved blessings He has already given. vs 6

Do not demand that He grant your petition, but humbly, and thankfully accept whatever He chooses to do. vs 6

You will know you have trusted God, because His peace will fill your heart. vs 7

When tempted to dwell on the causes of stress, choose to meditate on wonderful truth about God -- His plans, His accomplishments, His purposes, His attributes. vs 8
